Car Insurance Alfa Romeo (Car Insurance). why cant my kawasaki g5 100 start in first gear and go up a hill?why cant my kawasaki g5 100 start in first gear and go up a hill? every time i let out the clutch it dies, but when i add lots of gas too it, it will leap a foot then die again. is it cause its a weak motor and cant do this or is it something other then that? It sounds as though you don't know how to use the clutch. The clutch is a progressive control, not an on/off switch. Let it out gently until it is FULLY engaged. Many novice riders tend to let the lever out slowly until the bike starts to move, and then let go of it completely. You should have seen the hills I started on when I had my KE100! If you're new to riding you just have to learn how to feather the clutch better. If you've been riding for a while and it just wont go up, feather the clutch as you walk it up, when it gets to speed, hop on! Auto parts : Motor And Transmission Mount Cap Acura 1995 . What would I need to check on a work van before taking it out? Hello, apologies for the very random question. If I was working for a company that had a fleet of vehicles, and was given one to take out, what kind of checks would I be advised to make on it before leaving? E.g. checking lights/brakes work, checking it has various documents etc. I would really appreciate a list of some sort. I don't necessarily mean purely legal requirements by the way, just common sense checks (I don't drive hence not knowing this). Thank you! car insurance. Alfa Romeo . How to Disassemble Rear Brakes on a 2000 GMC 1500The 2000 GMC 1500 is the one-half-ton version of the GMC pickup truck. The rear brakes on the truck consist of two braking mechanisms: disc brakes and drum brakes. The disc brakes are used for normal braking and are normally replaced a couple of times over the life of the vehicle. The drum brakes are used strictly for the parking brake. Difficulty:Challenging Instructions Things You'll Need Tire iron Floor jack Jack stands Metric socket and wrench set (15 to 25 mm) Metric open-end wrench set (15 to 25 mm) Long flat-head screwdriver (shaft of 15 to 25 cm) Brake-drum puller HammerAccessing the Brakes Step by Step : 1 Loosen the lug nuts on the rear wheel for the brakes that you want to disassemble. 2 Place the floor jack under the rear differential and raise the back tires of the vehicle off the ground. 3 Place a jack stand under the frame in front of the wheel well and lower the truck onto the stands. 4 Remove the tires covering the brake assemblies. Disassembling the Disc Brakes Step by Step : 1 Use a socket and open-ended wrench to remove the top set of bolts. These hold the brake pads in place. If the rubber boots are sticking to the bolts, the bolts can be left in place, after they are loosened, while the caliper assembly is removed. 2 Remove the lower set of bolts holding the caliper assembly in place. The brake line will still be connected to the caliper so it will need to be set off to the side once removed. 3 Use the screwdriver to pry the assembly off the rotor. 4 Remove the brake pads and separate the pad holder from the caliper. Removing the Drum Brakes Step by Step : 1 Place the drum puller on the rear brake drum. Make sure the arms are evenly spread out along the edges of the drum. The central bolt should be up against the axle cap. 2 Place a socket and wrench on the bolt of the puller and slowly crank in the arms. This will shorten the distance between the arms and the axle cap, pulling the drum off. 3 Lightly tap around the outside edge of the drum as you turn the wrench to break up any rust preventing the drum from being removed. 4 Once the drum is removed, pull the springs holding the brake pads in place to release the drum-brake assembly. Tips & Warnings The vehicle must be parked on a solid flat surface. Do not put the parking brake on because you will damage the parking brake while attempting to disassemble the rear brakes.
Alfa Romeo . How to Change the Rear Brakes on a 2005 4x4 SilveradoThe 4x4 Chevrolet Silverado is a four-wheel-drive, full-size pickup truck. To stop the vehicle, four disc brakes are employed, one per wheel. Disc brakes work by a caliper squeezing two brake pads against a spinning disc. The disc is part of the wheel hub, so when the pads are squeezed, friction between the pads and the disc slows down the wheel and consequently the vehicle. Changing these brakes often only requires replacing the pads with new ones. Difficulty:Challenging Instructions Things You'll Need Tire iron Floor jack Jack stands Socket and wrench set Long shafted, flat-head screwdriver Wooden block New brake pads Graphite lubricant Paper towelSuggest EditsItem AddWhy is it necessary?DoneAccessing the Brake Assembly Step by Step : 1 Park the truck on a solid, level surface. Turn off the truck and put the vehicle in "Park," but do not put the parking brake on. The front wheels should be blocked. 2 Loosen the lug nuts on both rear wheels using the tire iron. 3 Place the floor jack under the rear differential and jack up the truck high enough to place the jack stands under the frame just in front of the back wheel wells. 4 Lower the truck onto the jack stands. Leave the floor jack in place for added stability. 5 Remove the lug nuts and both rear tires. Replacing the Brake Pads Step by Step : 1 Loosen the bolts holding the brake caliper in place. The brake-caliper bolts are on the back of the assembly and are the set farther away from the axle than the brake-assembly bolts. 2 Remove the bolts holding the brake assembly in place. The brake-assembly bolts are on the back of the assembly and are the set closer to the axle than the brake-caliper bolts. 3 Remove the brake assembly. You will probably need to use the screwdriver to pry the assembly off the brake disc once the bolts are removed. Do not disconnect the brake line from the caliper. 4 Remove the bolts holding the caliper onto the brake assembly and remove the caliper from the assembly. Immediately place the wooden block between the caliper's piston and the catch to prevent the piston from coming out of the caliper. If the block is too small to completely span the distance, a clamp can be used to hold the block against the caliper. Do not disconnect the brake line from the caliper. 5 Disassemble the rest of the assembly. Most likely when the caliper is removed, the brake pads will fall out of their holder which separates all of the important pieces. 6 Clean the brake-pad holder. 7 Place a little bit of the graphite lubricant on the tracks that the brake pads run along. Use the paper towel to smear a fine layer of lubricant across the entire track and remove any excess. Reassembling the Brakes Step by Step : 1 Place one brake pad on each side of the holder so that the pads are facing inwards. 2 Fit the brake-pad holder onto the disc and put in the bolts to hold it in place. The bolts do not need to be tight at this time. 3 Put in the bolts holding the caliper in place. 4 Tighten all bolts as tight as possible. Putting the Tires Back On Step by Step : 1 Once both brakes are back together, place the key into the ignition and turn the ignition to "Accessories" (the spot before starting the vehicle). Use your hand to depress the brake and check to verify that the brakes are being clamped shut and that the rear axle cannot be turned. 2 Replace the rear wheels and lug nuts. 3 Tighten the lug nuts. 4 Jack up the rear of the truck and remove the jack stands. Lower the truck to the ground. 5 Tighten the lug nuts with the tire iron. Tips & Warnings If the brakes are not put together correctly, the vehicle will lose some or all of its stopping ability. *You've just cleaned, gapped, and installed your first spark plug. Don't you feel terrific? Now you have only three, five, or seven more to do, depending on your engine. 8. Repeat the steps to remove, read, gap, and install each spark plug. It's at times like these that owners of 4-cylinder cars have the edge on those who drive those big, expensive 8-cylinder monsters. When you're done, start your engine to prove to yourself that everything still works. Then wash your hands with hand cleaner. If you've had a hard time with a hard-to-reach plug, get some rest before taking on additional work. Next time, the job should be a breeze. Sen/icinq \lour Distributor (T) (S) Mos t cars built after 1975 have electronic ignition systems that require no regular servicing. Some have no distributors at all. All testing and servicing of these systems should be left to trained professionals because they are easily damaged if hooked up improperly, and they employ high voltage that can also damage you. 529

However, even if you have a distributorless system, don't forget to read and change your spark plugs and check that your cables and connections haven't become corroded or detached. I'd do so at least twice a year, or whenever your vehicle stops running smoothly or your fuel consumption suddenly increases. (V\ (T\ If you aren't sure whether your vehicle has one of the older non-electronic distributors that must be manually serviced, note that older distributors have one thin wire on the side, whereas the electronic ones have two wires or more. If you're still not certain, check your owner's manual or service manual, or call the service department at a dealership that represents your car's manufacturer. Part'"• Keeping Your Car in Good Condition, System by System If you have a distributor that does need servicing, check the items in the section called "What You Need to Do the Work in This Chapter," paying special attention to the parts and tools preceded by the ® symbol. Get to the scene of the action The distributor gets voltage from the ignition coil and distributes it to each spark plug in turn. To accomplish this, the distributor contains a set of points, a rotor, and a condenser. Servicing your distributor involves cleaning and checking these parts and replacing them if necessary. (V\ (T\ Although you can jump to any of the following sections to get specific information, I recommend that you read Chapter 6 before going any further. It will help you find your distributor and familiarize you with what each part looks like and does. Then return here and work your way through the rest of the sections in succession, using the ® and CD symbols to identify work that you can do on your particular system. If you go step by step, you can do everything you need to in the most effi cient order, thereby increasing the chances of your vehicle starting the first time you try it after the work is done. Use a long-handled screwdriver to loosen the distributor cap. Most caps are held in place by either screws (see Figure 12-13) or clips (see Figure 12-14). 3. Now that your distributor cap is free, remove it without removing any of the wires that are attached to the cap. Place it to one side and take a look inside your distributor (see Figure 12-15). Does the stuff in there look like the replacement parts you bought? Look at the structure of the rotor (and the points and condenser, when you get to them). They should be similar, although some parts may be made of plastic instead of metal. If they look different, you've got the wrong parts. Go back to the auto parts store and start over.
